Our story

Maré means tide.

Maré began with a question so simple it felt almost silly: if fish get their omega-3 from algae, why don't we? What started as one stubborn label-reading habit became a cleaner omega-3, grown at the source, gentle on the sea.

Maré means tide.
It started with a bottle of fish oil

The question

It started with a bottle of fish oil

Like a lot of people, I took fish oil because it's one of the few supplements the evidence actually supports. And like a lot of people, I quietly hated it, the aftertaste, the burps, the label that wouldn't say where the fish came from or what came along with them.

So one evening I went looking for the answer to a simple question: where do fish get their omega-3 in the first place? The answer was algae. Fish don't make EPA and DHA, they accumulate it, along with whatever else the ocean carries.

So we skipped the fish

The shift

So we skipped the fish

If algae is the source, everything between the algae and you is a middleman, one that picks up mercury, PCBs and microplastics along the way. Maré grows its EPA and DHA from marine algae in clean, controlled water, and never takes it from the sea.

The same molecules your body is after. None of the ocean's baggage. Nothing to burp up an hour later.

Named after the tide

The standard

Named after the tide

Maré is the Portuguese word for tide - the ocean's rhythm: steady, quiet, unforced. That's the standard for everything we make. Exact EPA and DHA doses printed on the label. Every batch tested by an independent lab. A supply chain that leaves the fish in the water.

And if Maré isn't the omega-3 you keep taking, we'll refund you within 30 days, pouch empty or not.

What we stand for

Easy on the ocean

Grown, not fished - leaving wild fish where they belong.

Pure by design

No mercury, no microplastics - tested every batch.

Plant-based

Vegan EPA + DHA, from the original source.

"We didn't invent omega-3. We just went back to where it begins."
